Compute on your PDP data set

The storage provider that holds your data also computes on it, paid through Filecoin Pay. This is a frozen copy of the live demo on Filecoin Calibration, taken on 21 September 2026: every transaction linked here is real.

Snapshot: buttons are disabled here. This page shows the state of the live demo after a series of real runs: balances, the client's data set with job results, and the jobs. To try it yourself, open the live demo (it runs from a test machine, so it may be offline).

How this demo works

Every action on this page is a real transaction on the Filecoin Calibration network, signed by your wallet (the demo wallet or your own).

Disclaimer
  • Storage proofs are not run yet. The demo provider does not submit proofs of possession; real proofs can be added later.
  • Calibration network. Test tokens only. Each step takes 30–60 seconds: Filecoin produces a block every 30 seconds.
Who is who
Client
You. You own the data set and pay for compute.
Service provider (SP)
Stores your data set and runs your workloads next to it.
ComputeService
The smart contract that enforces the payment rules.
Two ways to pay
Pay for time
Rent a service next to your files, billed per epoch until you stop.
Pay per job
Order a result. The price is held and paid only if the result lands in your data set before the deadline.
What is real
Transactions
Every step is an on-chain transaction, linked to the Blockscout explorer.
Contracts
Filecoin Pay, PDP and Warm Storage (FilOz's deployment), plus ComputeService.
Execution
Your signatures, and real workloads running in containers.

PDP proofs: not run in this demo A real provider must prove it still holds your data once per proving period: 240 blocks (2 h) on Calibration, 2880 blocks (24 h) on mainnet. The demo provider does not run a prover yet; real proofs can be added later. The compute and payment flows do not depend on them.

These are your files as stored on Filecoin: each one is a piece of your PDP data set, identified by its piece CID. Jobs read your files and add their results here as new pieces.

Your money

4.268 USDFC available in your Filecoin Pay account, plus 0.499 on hold (open jobs and sessions, and your storage reserve). The compute service never holds your money: it can only put amounts on hold and pay providers, within the limits you approved. Add more when a job or session needs it; withdraw what is not on hold at any time.

Pay per job: order a result

The price is put on hold. The provider runs the program on your files and adds the result to your data set; it is paid only if it does so before the deadline.

What this job does. Reads your text files and builds an index: every word, and which files contain it.
Reads: your .txt files · Writes: search-index.txt · Price: 0.500 USDFC, paid only on delivery · Deadline: 10 min. The SP runs the program in a container next to your files (no network, your files read-only).

What is recorded on the chain

In the live demo this panel lists every transaction as it happens. In this snapshot, see the transaction links in the data set table above (each result was stored in its own transaction), and the contracts linked at the top.
